Closing out 2025: schedule and plans

Closing out 2025: schedule and plans

At the end of November 2025 I’ll be releasing three special things. They are not part of the Bookhead Club, and they are as follows:

1. Little Monsters are back again!

I’ve made four of these in the past, and this year I'm so happy to finally bring back a new Little Monsters edition. These notebooks are the fuzziest Dapper Notes with faux fur covers and are so cute and insanely soft and one of my favorite things.

They're also really hard to make. Production takes longer, and the fuzz makes an enormous mess in my studio. But that's kind of the point as they've historically arrived as a Black Friday release that counters the sales and discounts, and instead offers something pricier than my usual notebooks: something that took more effort, something that is special and supports the arts.

This year's Little Monster notebooks are actually not so little, and are similar to last years’ situation. They’re made in the larger 5.5x8-inch size with 100lb paper inside, are packed in a screen printed box, and come with an embossed and signed certificate of adoption. And as a fun bonus — I believe this was an idea offered by Nina in a comment last year — I’m including a Dapper Notes comb as well so you can comb and style your Little Monster to your liking. I’ve found the combing to be a pretty soothing activity tbh. Oh, and since the combs I got (claimed “unbreakable” by the manufacturer) had a minimum order quantity waaaay higher that what I needed for the Little Monsters, I will now pivot into the grooming supply industry and have combs available for purchase individually as well.

👉 The Little Monsters arrive on Thursday, November 27th. There is a very limited amount of them made, and will be strictly limited to one per person.

2. A special 10-year rebound

Every edition of notebooks that I make leaves traces behind. Smaller scraps get recycled, medium scraps get saved and sent to artists for upcycling, and bigger scraps get saved for…well for the longest time they were just being saved for no specific purpose. That is until today.

I have taken the fabric leftovers from every edition I made in the past ten years that left some scraps behind, and turned them into a batch of notebooks I’m calling the Ten Year Rebound. As in both “looking back” and also “re-binding”. It’s a solid double entedre and I apologize for feeling I have to explain it. But I digress.

I finally did what so many people have asked me throughout the past decade and MADE OLD EDITIONS AGAIN. Sorta. These notebooks are not identical to the originals: In most instances only the cover fabric is the same, and is bound to a different bookcloth with a different endsheet and different thread. But for all of them I made sure to only use materials I already had, materials that have accumulated for the past decade.

Why now? This coming January 11th marks the ten year anniversary of Dapper Notes, as in the day my very first notebooks went on sale. The Ten Year Rebound is my first celebration leading up to this big milestone, but also released in good time for gifting one for yourself of your favorite stationery lover.

3. Cyanotypes are FINALLY done

It’s been almost two years since I started working on a cyanotype project with Sarah Lanzi (@filia.re). Sarah made some original artwork on fabric she had upcycled using the oldest form of photo development known as cyanotype. The method works by adding a uv-sensitive chemical mixture to fabric or paper, adding opaque design elements onto the sheet (this can be a photo negative, leaves, or anything you have laying around) and leaving it out in the sun to get exposed. When the sheet is washed and developed you end up with a rich blue result that is quite striking.

So Sarah made a set of prints on fabrics that she sent my way all the way from France. I scanned the fabric designs, and then turned them into one-of-a-kind notebooks in my larger A5-ish size. I then used the scans to print the artwork onto a variety of materials and made a new set of Billfolds. What are Billfolds? They’re an experiment I ran once in 2018, where after years of trying to come up with a way to lend the Dapper Notes feel to any pocket notebook through a fabric cover, but one that is made with no stitching, I came up with a pretty solid design that only uses fabric, bookcloth, and glue. No thread. The only downside is that the process is so tedious and involved and delicate, Billfolds take a tremendous amount of time to make, and I end up with a high yield of imperfect covers.

But the cyanotype project is now done. And it came out AMAZING. And I am super proud of both the one-of-a-kind notebooks and Billfold wallet covers.

👉 The cyanotype notebooks and Billfolds will be available on the Monday known as Cyber Monday (December 1st this year).

Take note!

1. Limited restocks

I will be spending the coming weeks making the next Bookhead Club edition, and only restocking a few essentials. Specifically: 1) Todoodle notepads, 2) the new Todoodle Index Cards, 3) Daily Notes stamps, and 4) a small batch of Pocket Stationerdy notebooks in dot grid.

This means that you should plan ahead if you were considering getting something specific as a gift for the holidays.

2. Shipping cost and combining orders

Just like I did last year, I will wait until Monday to ship all of the holiday weekend orders. I will combine shipping for anyone who places multiple orders between November 27th and December 1st (only), and refund the shipping difference. This will be especially helpful for shoppers outside the U.S. who will be able to save on shipping. You'll still need to place both orders and pay for shipping on each, but I will manually refund the extra shipping as I process everything on Monday evening.

The next Bookhead Club edition

In addition to all of the above special releases, the next Bookhead Club edition will be arriving later in December as well. For a sneak peek and spoilers, see my latest Journey post.
