Joanna Muñoz is a Filipino designer, lettering artist and illustrator based in Los Angeles, CA. Her studio Wink & Wonder is best known for its whimsical letterforms, adorable illustrations, playful color palettes and uplifting messages, infusing each piece with meaning and fun. In short: Joanna is all wholesome vibes.

We agreed to start off the year with something kind, uplifting, and beautiful. A design that shares you are loved. A notebook that affirms you are loved. Yes, you!

We printed the art onto a beautifully textured, shiny, soft, tactile fabric called crushed velvet. The colors coordinate throughout with a light blue bookcloth and orange gold thread. I printed a repeating "loved" pattern onto handmade lokta paper for the decorative endsheet.

Sparkly texture

Though marbled velvet is one of the harder materials to work with, the end result is absolutely worth it. The soft feel is a sensory wonderland, and the material lends itself to shine and shifting the colors of the notebook as it moves in the light. It's a wonderful visual effect that ebbs and flows much like love does. I'm no poet, but you get the vibe.
